Element Flow

See how your elements and systems connect — what produces, reads, runs and fires what.

Element Flow

Element Flow is a map of your design. It shows how elements and systems connect — which operations change a resource, which conditions read a flag, which systems wait for an event — so you can see what a change will touch before you make it.

Opening Element Flow

On the Design tab, click the Element Flow link at the bottom of the project tree. The map opens showing your whole project.

Exploring the Map

  • Jump to an element… — find an element by name and focus the map on it.
  • Filters — choose which element kinds and which kinds of connection to show, and Hide unconnected elements to clear away elements nothing uses.
  • Focus — double-click a node to refocus the map on it and see everything connected to it. Use ← Overview to return to the whole project.

Each system appears as a single node; select it to see its details, or open it with Open in System editor.

Kinds of Connection

Each line on the map is labelled with the kind of connection:

  • Produces, Consumes and Modifies — an effect adds to an element, takes from it, or otherwise changes it
  • Reads — a condition or value reads an element
  • Requires flag — a condition requires a flag
  • Checks state — a condition checks which state a system is in
  • Runs — an effect runs a custom operation
  • Fires — an effect fires an event
  • Waits for — a system's exit waits for an event
  • Member of — an element belongs to a group
  • Uses formula — a value uses a formula
